John Frank Dawson, Sr., age 72 of White Oak, died Monday, October 9, 2017. He was born September 22, 1945 in McKeesport, the son of the late Thayer C. and Milda Schneider Dawson.
John served in the U.S. Navy (Sea Bees, MCB6) during the Vietnam War and was a member of the White Oak American Legion Post #701. He was the owner of John Dawson Masonry Contracting until his retirement. He is survived by his wife Marsha J. Gillingham Dawson, sons; Philip T. (Susana) Dawson of White Oak, John Frank Dawson, Jr. of Shaler, daughters; Fawn R. Tyler of McKeesport, Adrian C. (Eugene) Berkoben of Versailles Boro, sisters; Joan Porter of Indiana, Leona (George) Jacob of Liberty Boro, Mildred Dawson of White Oak, brother; Thayer (Barbara) Dawson of Barnesville, PA, grandchildren; Ashley Vines, Racheal Tyler, John F. Dawson III, David Antonio Oliva Dawson, great grandchildren; Joshua Sager, Jacob Vines, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Elva Jean Stegman and brother William Dawson. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 11,2017 from 1 – 6 pm at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor 412-678-6177), where services will be held at 6 pm with Pastor Charles Owston officiating. Military honors will follow.
