John “Jay” C. Resetar, 71, of North Irwin, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 3, 2016. He was born June 8, 1944 in Greensburg, a son of the late John and Florence (Weaver) Resetar. He was a member of the 1963 Norwin Hall of Fame Basketball team that was the WPIAL Champions. He was a well-respected proprietor for over 40 years for Amoco and was an active security guard for the West Mifflin School District and formerly for Franklin Regional School District.

He was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Irwin, the Kiwanis Club, and a charter member of the Norwin YMCA. He was part of the volunteer fire department in Sardis and Holiday Park, coached numerous sports teams in the Norwin area, and was a president of the Norwin Football Boosters. He participated in the Norwin Band Aide and was a member of the Vikings. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother George William Resetar. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Suzanne (Swenson) Resetar; children Missie Resetar of Poland, Ohio, Doug (Amy) Resetar of West Mifflin, Mindy Resetar of North Huntingdon and Scott (Leigh) Resetar of Poland, Ohio; and grandchildren J.O., Eliza, Allison, Quenten, Collin and Brayden. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 till time of service at 8:30 p.m. Saturday with Rev.
