Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | November 24, 2017

Nicholas G. “Nick” Campano, age 83, of Glassport, died Nov. 23, 2017, at John J. Kane Regional Center in McKeesport. Born Dec. 28, 1933, in Glassport, he was a son of the late Anthony and Mary (D’Angelo) Campano. Nick is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie L. “Peggy” (Droske) Campano.

Nick retired as a clerk from the U.S. Postal Service. During his 34 years of service, he worked in Glassport and Duquesne. He was gifted at fixing things, and enjoyed working on his home, vehicles and helping his son and daughters with their home repairs. Nick was generous with everyone, and even when they were very young, his children knew they could count on him for a little extra, after mom had dispersed the family budget. Some of Nick’s grandchildren’s best memories were their weekend camping trips to Pioneer Park with grandpap and grandma.
In addition to Peggy, survivors include children, Nicholas (Diane) of Pleasant Hills, Lynn M. of Glassport and Milissa (Jeffrey) Panchak of Baldwin; grandchildren, Cory, Jordan, Megan, Jacob and Luke; brother, Thomas “Tucker” (Irene) of Canonsburg; nieces and nephews. Nick was preceded in death by siblings, Julius “Scamp”, Louis, Anthony and Rose Ivkovich.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 26, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Fr. Daniel Straughn will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial at Liberty Worship Site of St. Mark Parish, Monday, at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in New St. Joseph Mausoleum.
