John F. Stagon, 96, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Fredericktown, PA, died Friday, November 24, 2017 at UPMC  McKeesport, PA.

 He was born July 15, 1921 in Vestaburg and a son of the late John Sr. and Anna Yurichko Stagon.  He served in the U.S. Army between 1944 to 1946, received three battle medals in the European area.  He was a member of the American Legion in Fredericktown and Jefferson, the Senior Citizens Center and the SNPJ Lodge No. 87, Herminie.  He worked in a coal mine in Brownton, W. VA and Westinghouse Electric, Turtle Creek.  He retired after 35 years of service from Fisher Body, Dravosburg, a division of General Motors.  He was the husband of the late Lois E. Stewart from Waynesburg.  Also deceased are brother, George; sister, Mary Perevuznik, Elizabeth Shimborski, Regina Spenelli, Rose Revi, Helen Titus; and granddaughter, Donna Stagon.  Surviving are his three sons, Steven Stagon, Jeffrey Stagon, Gregory Stagon and his wife, Lynette; two grandsons, Matthew and Christopher; three granddaughters, Charlene and Barbra Stagon and Lindsay Blasko; and girlfriend, Hilda Horvat.  Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.  Interment in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
