John J. Honacki, age 88, of Elizabeth Twp passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at home. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Twp. A retired steelworker for National Tube in McKeesport, he was a member of the Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees and the PNA 750 of Glassport, and a former member of the American Racing Pigeon Union in Glassport. 

 

Born September 16, 1929 in Glassport, he was a son of the late John F. and Lucille (Grabski) Honacki. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (McKenna) Honacki; son, John (Laurie) Honacki, DC, of Renfrew; daughter, LuAnn (Michael) Sowko, PhD, of Forward Twp.; grandchildren, Michael (Susannah), Lauren and Natalie Sowko; sister, Theresa Tkac of Elizabeth Twp.; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Theresa Ann Kolovich. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 2-4 and  6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 10 AM in St. Michael Parish with the Rev. Thomas A. Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills. Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1101 Western Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
