Thomas M. "Zip" Budd, Sr., age 70, of McKeesport, died on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at John J. Kane Regional Medical Center. Born December 21, 1946 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Michael Budziszewski and Julia (Bocek) Budd.
Tom was retired from the McKeesport Post Office, where he worked as a dedicated letter carrier for 39 years. Appropriately nicknamed, "Zip," Tom was endeared by his many customers within the McKeesport and White Oak communities. Prior to working for the post office, Tom taught, and coached basketball at, the former St. Pius V Elementary School in McKeesport. As a graduate of Penn State University, Tom was an avid Nittany Lions fan.
Tom is survived by his sons, Thomas, Jr. of Elizabeth, and Raymond of Waltham, MA; brother Joseph (Stephanie) of White Oak; aunt Helen Bocek of Gibsonia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, from 3 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 5 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Fr. Steven M. Palsa will officiate. Inurnment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
