Richard J. Tkac, age 80, of McKeesport, died December 20, 2017, at home. Born May 31, 1937, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Richard and Agnes Tkac and the husband of the late Lucille (Hairabet) Tkac.

Richard owned and operated the Foodland Supermarket, in Cheswick, PA, until he retired. He was a member of the St. Angela Merici Church. He truly enjoyed hosting family dinners, holiday gatherings and being a Steelers football fan. Although, his greatest passion was sharing his home and providing a fun atmosphere with the swimming pool and bowling lanes. Family, friends and anyone that wanted to come to his home were always welcome.
Richard is survived by his sons, Pete (Kelly) Van Meter of Natrona Heights, John (Lynn) Van Meter of White Oak and Richard R. Tkac of North Versailles; grandchildren, Matthew, Victoria, Krystal, Andrew, Robert, Tammy and Marissa; great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Vanetta, Morgan, Logan, London, Cameron, Luke, Emery, Maria Lucille, Robert, Chloe, Nyla and Cole; sister, Jerri Bico of White Oak; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Sakoian of North Versailles and Mary Jane Tourigian; daughter-in-law, Laura Van Meter; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Burnie Tkac. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on December 22, 2017, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 23, 2017, 10 a.m., at St. Angela Merici Church, with Fr. Kevin Dominik as the celebrant. Entombment will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Angela Merici Church, 1640 Fawcett St., White Oak, PA 15131.
