Robert "Chut" Paredes, age 88, of North Versailles, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Donell House, Washington, PA.  He was born October 20, 1929 in Donora, PA, a son of the late Manuel and Josephine (Szmuc) Paredes.

Robert served 20 years with the US Army as a military officer.  As a helicopter pilot with the US Army, Robert served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea.   He later was employed as a motor/engine repair tech for Westinghouse and staff counselor for Auberle Home for Boys.  He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and McKeesport Amvets.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mariene "Mimi" (Butler) Paredes; and sister, Sylvia Sthal.  He is survived by his sons, Brian Paredes and his wife, Denise, Robert Paredes and his wife, Jen; daughter, Rhonda Paredes; brother, William "Puff" Paredes; sister, Josephine Adam; four grandchildren, Corey, Jamie, Grace and Carter.  Friends will be received on Friday from 1-7 p.m. at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA.  A funeral service will take place on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Donell Hospice House or the Wounded Warriors Project.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
