Michael McDermott, 72, of North Huntingdon, found eternal peace on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 2, 1945 in Gallitzin, Pa., to James A. and Hilda M. (Cronauer) McDermott.  Mike graduated from St. Francis University in 1967 and became a social studies teacher at Bishop Carroll High School.  After meeting his wife, Jane (Kline) McDermott of 47 years, they raised four children in the Catholic faith instilling achievement and compassion.  Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Osmolenski.  He is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Jeff (Jessica) McDermott, Heidi (Mike) Pastirik, Megan McDermott, Thomas McDermott; grandchildren, Michael and Jillian Pastirik, Jeffrey D. McDermott.  Mike will be remembered as a fun-loving man with a giant heart, always concerned with helping others to be happy.  He was a  member of St. Agnes Church, avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, music lover and was a passionately devoted family man.  Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA on Sunday from 2-7 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 am. in St. Agnes Church.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
