Franklin "Brownie" Duane Brown, 89, of Greenock, died Sunday, March 27, 2016. He was born July 3, 1926 in Greenock and was the son of the late Joseph W. and Elda J. Kretschmer Brown. He was the husband of the late Betty Lou Widany Brown who died August 21, 2006. Brownie was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenock. He was also a member and past Post Chaplin of the Elizabeth VFW Post 7632 and past Commander of the Elizabeth American Legion Post 553. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran and had received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. He was retired from the Port Authority of Allegheny County after 34 years of service.

He is survived by his son, Dennis D. (Fiancée Barbara Globeck) Brown of Greenock, daughter, Jacqueline L. (Richard) Clark of Denver, CO, grandchildren, MacKenzie (Fiancée Ivan Goskirk) Clark of Denver, CO, Kelsey M. Brown of Mount Lebanon, and Devon D. Brown and Skylar M. Brown of Imperial. Friends are welcome Wednesday, March 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, March 31, at 10:00 am with The Rev. Erin Evans, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Greenock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at 412-471-0935.
