Jack “John” Doonan, age 58, of Port Vue, died June 27, 2018, at home surrounded by family and friends, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born April 25, 1960, in Warwick, Rhode Island, he is the husband of Carrie (Supernovich) Doonan, for 31 years.
He was a surgical technologist at Jefferson Hospital, and an active member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mark Parish. Jack earned his BS in Business, from Providence College and his MS in Business Administration, from Bryant College. He was an avid Patriots fan and Snoopy lover. Jack will forever be known for selflessly giving his time, energy, love and humor to all who knew him. He is best remembered by a quote from W. Wordsworth, “That best portion of a good man’s life, is his little nameless unremembered acts of kindness and of love.” In addition to his wife Carrie, Jack is survived by his children, Joseph Doonan of Columbus OH, Lynley Doonan of Port Vue and Alexandra (Justin) Yanity of Houston TX. He was a devoted, selfless and compassionate husband and father who put his family first. He treasured his nieces and nephews. He also adored his dog, and granddogs, Roscoe, Oakley and Benelli. Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, June 30, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Noon to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, 1 p.m., at St. Mark Church of Liberty Borough.
