Ronald F. "Ron" Morgenstern, 91, of Elizabeth Township, died Friday, July 6, 2018 at home. He was born February 6, 1927 in Greenock and was the son of the late Jacob and Bertha Burland Morgenstern. He was husband of the late Audrey (Schriber) Morgenstern. Ron was retired from management at US Steel for many years and was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenock. Ron was a US Army WWII Veteran. Ron was involved in many activities throughout his life. He was a charter member of Greenock Fire Company, former member of the Elizabeth Township Planning Commission, past president of the Elizabeth Forward School Board and past president and member of The Elizabeth Township Historical Society, in which he was most proud of his work he did for their Lewis and Clark Expedition re-enactment. He was also caretaker of the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Dravo Cemetery and Coulter Cemetery, as well as other local cemeteries. Ron loved researching his family history and any historical information. He is survived by grandson, Thomas E. (Brandis) Paull, Jr. of North Huntingdon, granddaughter, Jessica E. (Fiancé Cody Rhoades) Paull, son-in-law, Thomas E. Paull, Sr. of Boston, grandchildren, Jackson and Savannah, many family and friends and his dogs, Molly and Katie.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Idalynn Morgenstern Paull and grandson, Gary Alan Paull . Friends are welcome Monday, July 9, 2018, from 10:00 am - 2:30 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Funeral Service will be held at the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church following visitation on July 9, 2018, at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Erin Evans, officiating.
