Elizabeth L. Karp, age 96 of Baldwin, formerly of White Oak, the last five years in Edinboro, PA, died Tuesday, July 10, 2018. She was born July 14, 1921 in McKeesport, the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Volk Schoeller, and wife of the late Alvin G. Karp, who passed away in 2002 after 58 years of marriage.

Elizabeth graduated McKeesport High School in 1939 and was a graduate of the Keller School of Dress Design. She taught sewing at Singer Sewing Machine Co., worked for US Steel in accounting during WWII and was a secretary to the superintendent of US Steel Christy Park. She was secretary to 5 principals for Baldwin Whitehall school district, taught domestic sewing at CCAC, was a lifetime member of Bryn Mawr Church of Christ, and a member of Baldwin Community United Methodist Church, and most recently Edinboro United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, and rug hooking, and was featured in a national craft magazine.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, Alan (Mary Ann) Karp of Penn Hills; daughters, Beverly (the late Henry) Bechtel of Beaver and Linda (Lester) McCracken of Edinboro; grandchildren, Ivan McCracken, Emily Shears, Abigail Daise, William and Bradley Bechtel, Jack and Andrew Karp; also 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Erma Davis and Mildred Burtnett.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 15th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Service, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor 412-678-6177). Service will be held Monday, July 16th at 12 pm at Bryn Mawr Church of Christ with Pastor Charles Owston officiating. Entombment will follow.
