Michael Anthony O'Gurkis, age 54, of McKeesport, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2018. Born on January 28, 1964, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Edmund J. and the living Marjorie A. (Canfield) O'Gurkis. Michael attended McKeesport High School and the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.

He was a member of St. Patrick Parish of McKeesport and was involved in the community and with neighbors, volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He previously worked at Perkins Restaurant in Breezewood and for the U.S. government at Picatinny Arsenal in NJ. Michael enjoyed sports, walking, the outdoors and his pet cat "Boots." He especially loved watching his nieces and nephew grow and being such an important part of their lives. In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by his loving siblings, Joseph E. of McKeesport and Judith (Michael) Shuke of Hopewell, PA; nieces and nephews, Jennifer A. (Daniel) Zimmerman of Hopewell, PA, Rebecca L. (Branden) Rider of Bangor, ME, Eric M. (Aubrea) Shuke of Everett, PA, Emily Shuke of Hopewell, PA; great niece and nephews, Grace, Jacob and Nolan. His nieces and nephews were his greatest joy. He was also preceded in death by his brother, David J. O'Gurkis. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church on, Friday, August 3, 2018, 11 a.m., Fr. Thomas Galvin will be the celebrant. Private inurnment will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Willig Funeral Home & Crematory.
