Charles J. Elyes, age 91, of Versailles Borough, died August 31, 2018, at Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth. Born December 2, 1926, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Orosz) Elyes and the husband of Frances M. (Barnish) Elyes.
Charles retired from US Steel National Tube Works. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Parish. Charles was a US Coast Guard veteran, serving during WWII. He was a member of the Croation Club CFU Lodge # 146 and the White Oak American Legion Post # 701, where he was the social director for many years. In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his children, Charles Edward (Donna) Elyes of Versailles and Karen (Gregory) Rybar of White Oak; grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) Elyes of North Huntingdon, Jennifer (Robert) Dailey of White Oak, Christopher (Cassie) Elyes of Versailles and Jessica Matthews of White Oak; 7 great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews. Charles was also preceded in death by his brother, William Elyes. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 4 p.m. until the time of blessing service at 8 p.m., in the funeral home chapel.
