Theodore L. "Ted" Buck, 95, of Liberty Borough, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 2, 1923 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Toth) Buck. Ted was a retired Tool and Die maker for the former Firth Sterling in McKeesport. He was a WWII US Army Veteran. For his service, he received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with 1 Bronze Battle Star, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart for being wounded in action on July 18, 1944. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, AMVETS, East McKeesport VFW, and the Liberty Vets Club. Ted was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He is survived by his wife, Karen L. (DePorter) Buck, daughters, Vicki Bortak of West Mifflin, Kathy Byers of Lincoln, Pam (Carl) Pearson of Liberty, Teddi (Ed) Mondak of McKeesport, Melenie (Keith) Miller of North Versailles, and Melissa (Bob) Brewster of Elizabeth Township, grandchildren, Jamie (Brandy) Bortak, Stephanie (Bill) Pollak, Chuck (Lainie) Byers, Kellie Byers, Corri (Tim) Gross, Erica (Paul) Robinson, Josh (Sarah) Pearson, Leah (Darren) Yarborough, Nick Mondak, Becca (Justin) Mondak, Nikita Popovich, Madison Sellers and Zachary Brewster, great-grandchildren, Chelsea (Jacob) Bond, Lacey (Joe) Serbia, Blake, Brenna and Bailey Bortak, Corbin and Christian Byers, A.J. , Phoebe and Lyla Gross, Macey, Justus, Theo and Sadie Robinson, Ezra and Esther Ann Pearson, Mya Yarborough and Bryson Lust, and great-great-granddaughter, Amelia Serbia, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Wedel Buck, grandson, Aaron Popovich and 12 siblings. Friends are welcome Saturday, September 29 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Funeral service will held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 1:00 pm with Ted's son-in-law, Carl Pearson, officiating. Military Honors will follow.
