Cleveland Adams, Jr. “Bubba Dee”, 86 of Clairton, Pennsylvania, departed this life on Sunday December 9, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 6, 1932 in Clairton, PA, son of the late Cleveland, Sr. and Clara Holmes Adams and was also preceded in death by his five siblings, Quincy Adams, Melvin "Skinnie" Adams, Calvin "Dutch" Adams, Angela Adams, and Virginia “Honey” Christy.
Cleveland was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Trustee for many years. He was a graduate of Clairton High School. Sergeant Adams was a decorated veteran receiving the Bronze Star and several other accommodations and medals while serving in the United States Army during the Korean War Era. He was a member of Jerusalem Lodge #126 F&AM. He shared his wisdom with a sense of humor and was always willing to give sound advice or mentor younger men and women.
Uncle Bub, as he was affectionally known, worked as a Mechanic and Light Machine Operator for United States Steel Clairton Works, until he retired. Afterwards, he continued to work as a Mechanic at Carl’s Automotive, where he worked evenings and weekends doing mechanical work for many, who otherwise could not have had their car repaired.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathi Shine of Charlotte, NC; niece and caregiver, Melissa Adams-Foy of Pittsburgh; nieces, Thea Austin of Los Angeles, CA, Marilyn (Adams) Cotten and Michelle Adams both of Atlanta, GA.; nephews, Kevin Smith and Dwayne “Fish” Christy both of Clairton, and William Angelo Adams of Erie, PA; devoted friend and companion, Zaneta Mitchell of Clairton; Marla Hampton and Joseph Hampton of Clairton, whom he reared, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many friends.
Friends will be received Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 4pm-8 pm in Morning Star Baptist Church, 307 Shaw Avenue, Clairton, Pennsylvania, where services will be on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. John Knight officiating.
Interment will follow in the McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery, McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
Arrangements entrusted to Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., Clairton PA.
