Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | December 14, 2018

Albert M. Serena died Thursday, December 13th in McMurray Pa. He was 87. Albert was born on Valentines Day, February 14, 1931, in North Braddock. He was the only child of Roy Serena and Hazel Smith Serena Garrett. He was married 67 years to Audrey Bisesi Serena.

Albert resided most of his life in Liberty Borough until both he and his wife had to go into assisted living at Paramount Senior Care in Baldwin, then at Manorcare in McMurray. He was an early member of then St. Eugene, now St. Mark, Roman Catholic Church in Liberty. Albert retired from US Steel National Works after 30+ years of service. Albert lived life to its fullest and under his terms and was always active. He was a tireless worker, who loved and took care of his wife and family in all ways imaginable. He also enjoyed golf and his three grandsons. There wasn’t an activity, whether a school event or a baseball, soccer, basketball or football game that Albert didn’t attend. Keeping fit was also important to him. He was an avid walker and often seen throughout the Borough or on the South Allegheny track. He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother and a half brother, William Garrett. He is survived by his wife, who also resides at Manorcare, and son Alan (Susan) of Liberty, grandsons: Michael (Devon) of South Park, Adam of Greensburg and Albert (Heidi) of Baldwin. He looked forward to visits from his great grandchildren: Emma, Joshua and Julian. As recent as this last Saturday he was so excited that his great granddaughter and her Girl Scout group were coming over to sing Christmas carols to the residents of Manorcare. He had to have a front row seat. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, December 17, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10 a.m., at St. Mark Parish, Liberty Borough. Fr. Thomas Wagner will be the celebrant. Committal will follow in Mt.Vernon Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at jaycox-jaworskifh.com
