Helen G. Derr, age 88, of Liberty Borough, died April 9, 2019, at Riverside Nursing Center. Born June 20, 1930, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late George and Julia (Molnar) Garancsi and the wife of the late Marshall E. Derr.
Helen was a homemaker. Throughout the years, she was also employed at G.C. Murphy Co. in McKeesport, United Dairy Farms in Glassport and Dworek Amoco in McKeesport. Helen was member of St. Mark Parish and Christian Mothers. An energetic and enthusiastic woman, she was an avid duckpin bowler, enjoyed playing cards and loved her family's annual vacations to Wildwood, NJ. Known as "grandma & mamaw" to her grandchildren, there was never a day that she didn't make candy readily available for them, to their delight.
Survivors include, children, Shelley (Ron) Aquilante of Liberty Borough and Scott (Holly) of Orlando, FL; daughter-in-law, Jackie Derr; grandchldren, Jason (Mary Jo), Corey (Jennifer), Brittney (Izeah), Alyssa, Marshall and Kylee; great grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler and Kalena; sister, Shirley Dworek of Liberty Borough; sister-in-law, Marian Derr; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son, Denny; siblings, George, Bill, Lou and Nick Garancsi and Ann Vozar.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home on Friday, from 2-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Thomas A. Wagner, at St. Mark Parish, Liberty Site, at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.willigfuneralcremationservices.com
