Duane Edward Turnbull, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 14, 2019. Born at home on April 2, 1944 in the Versailles Borough of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Duane was the son of the late James Lawrence Turnbull and Leona May (Bills) Turnbull and was the youngest of five surviving children.
Duane leaves behind his proudest accomplishments, his three children; Tami Lee Turnbull (Thomas Taylor) of Hampton Roads, Virginia, Timothy Tyler Turnbull (Joi Trotter) of Hedgesville, West Virginia, and Katherine Amanda Turnbull of Hedgesville, West Virginia. He is also survived by his brother, James Laurence Turnbull (Rose Turnbull) of McKeesport, Pennsylvania; sister, Beverley Jean Smith (Fred Smith) of Reno, Nevada; four granddaughters; Krysteena Leigh Kidney (Josh Kidney), Mackenzie Adel Chenoweth, Sophia Elise Ingalls, and Adelia Dawn Turnbull; One great-grandson; Nikoli Danger Kidney; former spouses; Eva Lee Turnbull of Poquoson, Virginia, and Frances Elaine Turnbull of Hedgesville, West Virginia; Companion, Marlene Schmalz, who lovingly cared for him in his last years; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Leona; a brother, Thomas Robert (Sue Carnahan); and three sisters; Shirley Mae Kovac (Rhudolph Kovac), Patricia Ann Turnbull, and Helen La Rue Turnbull.
Family and friends will be received at the Willig Funeral Home & Crematory, 220 Ninth Avenue, McKeesport, Pennsylvania 15132, on Thursday, April 18, 2019, from 10 a.m. until the celebration of life service at 1 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Karen Prescott will be the celebrant. Entombment to follow with military honors at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, 2300 Greenock Buena Vista Road, McKeesport, Pennsylvania 15135.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the White Oak Animal Safe Haven, 2295 Lincoln Way, White Oak, Pennsylvania 15131.
