John Anthony Carney, Jr., 88, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Tuesday, April  23, 2019. He was born May 24, 1930 in Elizabeth Township and was the son of the late John Anthony Carney, Sr, and the late Sadie Stella  (Fisher) Carney. John was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Township and was retired from US Steel. He had worked for US Steel in Clairton, Homestead and the Monroeville Research Center. He was also an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Cipollone)  Carney, sons, John Anthony (Diane) Carney, III., of Croton, OH, and William F. (Christine) Carney of Elizabeth Township, daughter, Janice L. (Jeffrey) Allan of Liberty Borough, grandchildren, John M. (Gretchen) Carney, Matthew R. (Lindsay) Carney, Julia E. Carney, William Michael Carney, Zachary C. (Maria) Allan, and Jacob A. (Melanie) Allan, great-grandchildren, Colton, Case, Eden, and Malcolm, sisters, Helen Brown of Clearwater, FL, Patricia Masters of Laconia, NH, and Catherine (David) Leake of Uniontown, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Carney. Friends are welcome Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J.
