William Tretyak, age 97, of Liberty Borough, died September 14, 2019, at Kane Community Living Center in McKeesport. Born December 2, 1921, in Port Vue, he was the son of the late Emil and Mary (Petach) Tretyak and the husband of Virginia (Stenson) Tretyak.

William served in the United States Army during World War II, and he toured Sicily, France, Rome, and Africa. When he finished his service to our country, he began working as a truck driver for the AB Murray Trucking Company. He was a member of the American Legion Post #701 in White Oak and was part owner of the Mon-Yough Boat Club. William also enjoyed boating, camping in his RV, and loved to spend time with his grandkids.
William is survived by his daughters, Mary (Stephan) Driscoll of Liberty Borough and Diane Tretyak of Liberty Borough; grandsons, Adam (Nichol) Driscoll of West View, Pa and Brad (Rachel) Driscoll of Butler, Pa; and great-grandchildren Brendan, Matthew, and Julia Driscoll and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, William was also preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Tretyak, Albert Tretyak, Emery Tretyak, Emil Tretyak, Victor Tretyak, and sisters Irene Krien and Ethel Menessey.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at 10 a.m., in the Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home chapel. Committal service will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
