Betty “Dixie” L. (Needham) Perry, age 83, passed peacefully from this life into her new life with Jesus on Thursday, June 2, 2016. She was born March 20, 1933 in Knoxville, Tennessee, the youngest of seven children of the late Burl H and Vida (Rush) Needham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 41 years Richard S. Perry. She is survived by her children Karen (Dan) Ernette of Scottdale, David ( Cheryl) Perry of North Huntingdon, Scott (Linda) Perry of North Huntingdon, Hal Rick (Tina) Perry of Monessen and Stephen (Sheri) Perry of Hunker; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was spirted and full of life. She served her Lord and Savior as a church pianist, Sunday school teacher, nursing home volunteer and VBS director. She brought joy into the lives of all who knew her, especially to her Thursday McDonalds lunch group with her circle of good friends. Friends and family will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the William Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Suburban Community Church, 1787 Arona Road, Irwin with Rev. Paul Baer officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Suburban Community Church in her name. Interment will be at the Wood Lawn Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee. The family would like to thank the staff at Forbes Regional Hospital for their care and kindness during our mother’s illness. Our love for her will last forever.
