James P. "Jim" Valecko, 81, of Liberty Boro, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020. He was born June 25, 1938 in Port Vue and was the son of the late John and Barbara O'Branovich Valecko.  Jim was a US Army Veteran and for his service he was awarded The Good Conduct Medal.  He was a member of the former Holy Trinity Church in McKeesport, where he was an usher and a member of the choir. He was also a current member of St. Mark's Parish- Liberty Boro Worship Site.

Jim worked as a machinist for US Steel in Homestead for 28 years and later at Westinghouse in Cheswick for 8 years. Upon retirement, he drove school bus for Pennsylvania Coach Lines for several years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Louise Milligan Valecko, son, James P. "Jim" (Jennifer) Valecko, Jr. of Venetia, daughters, Tracy L. (Mark) Szewcow of Penn Twp., and Beth A. Valecko of Liberty Boro, grandson, Theodore James "TJ" Valecko, brother, Edward R. (Charlotte) Valecko of Greenock, sister, Rosemary (Alex) Juhasz of Indiana, PA, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was  preceded in death by daughter, Terri Ann Valecko and brother, John Valecko . Friends are welcome on Thursday, March 5, from 2-4 & 6- 8 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak (412) 672-6322 Troy J. Gilbert, Director. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated  at the St. Mark's Parish - Liberty Boro on Friday, March 6 at 10:00 am with Rev. Thomas Wagner,  officiating.
