Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | March 04, 2020

Richard Allen Carl, 68, of "Little Boston" Elizabeth Township, passed away at home on Monday, March 2, 2020. His clear and never ending love of his family is all he would want to be remembered for so, "Don't make a big fuss about it". Born March 26, 1951 in Aliquippa he was the son of the late Richard G. Carl and Arnetta (Besch) Cheuvront. Richard was a retired Senior Systems Analyst for BNY-Mellon in Pittsburgh but his true passion was being an artist, with a specialty in photography and mixed media.

In this field he worked under the guidance of the late Sister Edith Nemitz of The Sisters of the Devine Redeemer. He was a US Veteran serving in Frankfurt, Germany as an MP during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed riding on the bike trail, woodworking, talking philosophy to whomever would listen, but most of all sitting on his deck by the fire looking at his backyard and listening to music with his dog Bella. This was lovingly called "sit-fest" and he was the best at it. Richard was a graduate of Penn State University where he met his Yoko Ono, his wife of 45 years Jo Anne (Kugler). He also leaves his beloved daughters Jillian (Shawn) Kautzman of Bethel Park and Rebecca (Alaa) Aqra of Blackridge. Papa Carl leaves to them a lifetime of bad puns. To his six (amazing, wonderful etc...) grandchildren he was "Pap". He would like them to know, (Bryce, Delaney, Zane, Zara, Layla and Leena) that his attic full of junk is waiting for them to explore. He leaves behind brothers James Carl of Jasper, IN, William (Regina) Carl of Lenoir TN, Don (Valerie) Cheuvront of Ephrata, Pa, David (Mary) Cheuvront of D, TX and sister, Joyce (Mark) Johnston of Kernersville, NC and many nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation but a "Celebration of Rich's Life" will be held in the downstairs social hall of Wesley UM Church, 1201 Prescott St., White Oak, 15131 on Saturday, March 7 from 3 to 6.  There will be food, music and lots of memories shared.  All are welcome. Arrangements are by the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000, Drew J Gilbert, Director. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mon Yough Trail Council at P.O. Box 14, McKeesport, PA 15135 or to your favorite Air Guitar charity.
