Paul J. "Pete" Waslis, age 74 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on June 14, 2016 in William Penn Care Center in Jeanette. Born August 12, 1941 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Paul and Ellender (Halpin) Waslis.

Paul was a graduate of Carnegie Tech and a US Navy Veteran, serving aboard the USS Vulcan, stationed in Norfolk, VA.  He worked as, first, a metallurgical engineer for Carbidie in Irwin and retired as its president and was a parishioner of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Elizabeth Twp.  An avid woodworker, he was a member of the Mon Yough Woodcarvers and a member of the Carbide and Tool Engineers.  Paul was an active man who also liked to garden and golf, and he will be loved and missed by his family.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years Joanne E. (Bohach) Waslis, his daughter Jill (Craig) Huse of Indianapolis, IN, his twin grandchildren Sophia and Carson Huse, his brother William (Carol) Waslis of North Huntingdon, his sisters JoAnn (Frank) McLaughlin of Spring Hill, FL and Judy (Nick) Capp of Eddyville, KY, and also nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Paul was preceded in death by this sisters Rose Ella Finan and Mary Catherine Waslis.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles Borough, McKeesport, PA 15132 (412-678-3454) on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 10 AM in St. Michael's Church with Fr. Thomas Wagner officiating.  Procession and burial will follow to St. Joseph's Cemetery, North Versailles.   Memorial contributions in Paul's name should be made to the American Stroke Association, 777 Penn Center Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15235.  www.bekavacfuneralhome.com
