Agnes Patricia Motto, 84, of Versailles, passed away, Wednesday, April 22, 2020. She was born December 13, 1935 in St. John's, Newfoundland to the late John and Margaret (Heffernan) Walsh. Agnes lost both of her parents and was placed in Belvedere Catholic Orphanage when she was nine years old, along with her two younger sisters. She spent nine years there and obtained a scholarship and then obtained a teaching license. She was teaching elementary grades at St. Kevin's School in Goulds, Newfoundland when she met and married her husband, Ron.

She worked for a time at Simpson Sears in St. John's before coming to the United States in 1959. She became an excellent homemaker and was well known for her cooking and baking skills. She became known as "The Cookie Lady" for her baking and distributing cookies to her friends and neighbors. She was also employed for 31 years by the former Zayre's/Ame's Department store working in the ladies department.  She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ronald A. Motto, sons, Andrew (Chris) Motto and Stephen Motto, grandsons, Tyler and Sean Motto, brother, Fred (Marg) Walsh of St. John's, sisters, Margaret Dinn of St. John's and Ellen Doering of Toronto, Ontario, many nieces and nephews, who she loved and was loved in return and her fur babies, Mr. Wilson and Holly.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Edward and Arthur and her sisters, Mary, Joan and Rachel. There is no visitation.
