Louis Durant, 84, of Elizabeth Township, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at home. He was born January 19, 1932 in Wynn and was the son of the late Samuel and Agatha Vacirca Durant. Louis was a Korean War Veteran and had received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was a member of the American Legion. He retired from the Auto Industry after 30 years of service.
He loved spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed boating and all the great times at his home at Deep Creek Lake. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marlene Buehner Durant, daughters, LuAnn (Dennis) Kral of Penn Township, Deborah (Raymond) Mullen of White Oak, and son, Timothy (Donna) Durant of Elizabeth Township, grandchildren, Lauren (Kevin) Cunningham, Casey Mullen, Nicholas (Sarah) Kral, Ashley Kral, and Samuel, Hannah, Benjamin and Emma Durant, great-granddaughters, Payton Cunningham and Gianna and Addilyn Kral. Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-9 pm, Friday, June 24 at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412-751-5000) Drew J.
