Vincent B. Smith Jr., 91, a resident of the Veterans Hospital Aspinwall, died Wednesday July 6, 2016. Husband of the late Violet M. (Nolte) Smith; father of Natalie S. (Dave) Kraft and Gwen C. Stocks; grandfather of David V. Kraft, Jeffrey G. Kraft, William G. Stocks, Wendy Cookerly, and the late John J. Kraft; seven great grandchildren; brother of Mildred L. “Babe” Booth, Marion Smith, Marie Prescott, and the late John Smith, Eleanor Schillinger, Robert Smith, and Roberta Smith; also nieces and nephews.

Vincent was a WWII Army veteran having served with the 1st. Calvary in the Asiatic Pacific and American Theatre of Operations receiving a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster and three Bronze Stars. He was a former employee of Hanlon & Wilson Co. and served as warden of Jefferson County Jail, Brookville. He was a former member of St. Charles Church, Punxsutawney, the F.O. E. Aerie, 983, Brookville, the American Legion Post 701, White Oak, and the Disable American Veterans. Visitation 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Robert Bellarmine Church with interment following in St. Joseph Cemetery.
