Bertha M. Staton, 89, of Duquesne, PA, departed this life July 3, 2016 in Duquesne, PA. She was born April 28, 1927 in Scotland Neck, NC to Emma David

She was an active member of McKeesport Congregational of Jehovah's Witness for many years. Bertha felt a strong calling to participate in her ministry and she loved to cook! She was well known for her almost famous chicken soup. She also enjoyed spending time in her garden gently tending to her thriving plants and flowers.

She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker for her family. Bertha was full of love and truly knew how to make her house feel like home for her family and strangers alike.

Surviving are two sons, John M. Staton of Rock Hill, PA, James Staton of Los Angeles, CA; five daughters, Mary B. Burleigh of Duquesne, PA, Catherine M. Portersville of Charlotte, NC, Sherry Washington of Charlotte, NC, Constance J. Leon of Hallandale, FL, Peggy S. Williams of FL.

She was preceded in death by daughters, Clara B. David and Emma Lou Wylie, son, Terry Staton.

Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 the at the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., 2326 Jenny Lind Street, McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 14051 PA-993, Trafford, Pennsylvania,15085.

Interment will be private.
