Chester J. Englert, age 90, of Elizabeth, died December 5, 2020, at home. Born February 2, 1930, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Andrew and Katherine (Kuk) Englert and the husband of Mary Ann (Kobik) Englert.

Chester retired from Contraves Goerz Corporation, where he was manager of mechanical design for electro-optics systems; he designed one of the firm's most successful projects, the Kineto Tracking System. He loved to apply his early training in precision machining to projects at home, remodeling, auto maintenance, general repairs, and landscape projects. Chester was a member of the Mary, Mother of God Parish and attended the Corpus Christi Church, formerly St. Mary's Czestochowa Church, where he used his self-taught craft and carpentry skills for projects at the church. Chester was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean War and was a featured clarinet player in the US Army 291st Touring Band. He was all-in with support when it came to his children; sports, dance, science fairs, music training, Saturday, Tam O'Shanter art classes at Carnegie Museum, and so many others. Chester enjoyed gardening, explorations of finance, and investing with self-taught computer skills, exploring the USA with his family for work and pleasure. He was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. Chester was always there to lend a helping hand for family, friends, and others in need.
In addition to his wife, Chester is survived by his children, Susan Englert of Pittsburgh, and Paul Englert of Morris Plains, NJ; sister, Ruth Malos of Port Vue; nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Edward and August Osolinski.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, from 2 to 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, 10 a.m., at Corpus Christi Church. Committal prayers, military honors, and entombment will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
