Laurel "LJ" Pershing, age 76, of Blaine Hill, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Family Hospice & Palliative Care. She retired after 42 years as a secretary for H.J. Heinz Co. in Pittsburgh and was also a secretary for the G.C. Murphy Co. in McKeesport. Her last job was a school bus driver for the Thomas Jefferson School District.

She was a member of the Goldwing Club Chapter E in Belle Vernon, the Elizabeth Twp. and Clairton Lions Clubs, and the senior centers in Olympia Shopping Center and West Newton. Born September 15, 1944 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Edith (Krah) Hathaway.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, William S.  Pershing; stepdaughter, Patti Jo Pershing of Duquesne; brother, Harold "Bill" (Donna) Hathaway of Villa Rica, GA; sister, Nancy (the late Steve) Horvath of West Mifflin; sister-in-law, Beverly Hathaway of Mesa, AZ; brothers-in-law, David O. Pershing of Blaine Hill and Richard Pershing of Blaine Hill; sisters-in-law, Lucy Thompson (“Frenchy”) of Grassflat and Becky Pershing of Blaine Hill; also, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Dennis Hathaway; brothers-in-law, Edgar Pershing and John "Butch" Pershing; and sister-in-law, Sandra Davis.
