It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Lee (Abels) Minteer on Monday, December 7, 2020. She will have no more suffering from breast cancer which she valiantly fought. She was born July 23, 1939 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John and Gladys (Schreiner) Abels. She grew up in Dravosburg and after marriage and having her children they moved to Industry in Elizabeth Township. It is here where she lived for over 50 years and created many lasting friendships. She loved sitting on her front porch and saying hello to the passersby. She enjoyed evenings on her porch entertaining neighbors and loved ones. Never learning how to drive, Barb was never one to turn down an offer to go out to eat, play cards or go to Bingo. If the wheels were turning, she was going! She was a member of the Buena Vista V.F.D Ladies Auxiliary and also worked the voting polls on Election Days.

Besides her parents, Barb is preceded in death by her sister, Doris Swanson and her son-in-law, Dave Permigiani. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Permigiani of Elizabeth Township, son, Raymond (Marsha) Minteer of North Huntingdon, and daughter, Carol (Ron) Shaffer of North Huntingdon. She had four grandchildren that she adored. Adam (Natalie) Shaffer, Aaron Shaffer, Yeoman Second Class Matthew DiCriscio and Rachel Minteer. She is also survived by her niece, Darla Totin and by many great nieces and great nephews. Private family visitation and funeral service took place Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township.
