James Anthony Tate, Sr., age 71, of Versailles Borough, died January 15, 2021, at UPMC McKeesport. Born September 17, 1949, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late James A. and Edith (DelAsandro) Tate and the husband of Cathy (Coltogirone) Tate.

Jim retired from Elizabeth Carbide, where he was a machinist. He attended Bridge City Church of White Oak. Jim was a US Army veteran serving during Vietnam. He enjoyed bowling at Stan's White Oak Bowl, watching sports, and NASCAR racing. In his early years, he coached his children's sports teams. Jim was very proud of caring for his lawn, always perfectly manicured and you couldn't find a dandelion.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children, James A. Tate, Jr. of Versailles Borough, Megan Tate of McKeesport, and Michael (Alyssa Farally) Tate; grandchildren, Kilyn, Haylee, and Liam Tate, Noah Walsh, and  Parker Potter; sister, Carol Ann Beaumont of White Oak, Connie Raible of White Oak; also many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Falco Tate; sister, Patricia Jarvis.
Arrangements were entrusted to Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory.
