Josephine Jasiewicz, 94, of White Oak, passed away peacefully into God’s hands on Friday, January 15, 2021. She was born on October 9, 1926 in North Braddock, to the late Mary (Prochownic) Walczyk and John Walczyk, who immigrated from Poland. She resided in White Oak for most of her life.
She worked for Westinghouse Corporation until she met her husband, Stanley, at Kennywood Park. They married in 1953 and had two children. They had been married 40 years until his passing in 1994. Josephine was a member of St. Mary Czestochowa Church now known as Mary Mother of God Parish, Corpus Christi Worship Site in McKeesport PA and was very faithful. She was very active in the Christian Mothers group and the Rosary Society. She participated in the St. Mary’s bowling league for many years. Josephine was very proud of her Polish heritage and spent many weekends going to Polka dances with family and friends throughout her life. One of her favorite vacations was her trip to Poland. Jo’s favorite pastime was bingo. She played bingo about three times a week for years. She didn’t win big, but she had fun trying! Josephine was predeceased by her husband Stanley, her brothers Gilbert and Bronislaw, and her sister Laura. She is survived by her sister Mildred, her son Richard and his wife Alicja, her daughter Ruth and her husband Jim, and her three grandchildren: Christopher, Vanessa, and Jenna. Friends and family are welcome Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 10 a.m. to noon at Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak. (412) -672-6322 Troy J. Gilbert, director. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 noon. The Rev. Kevin Dominik will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Polish Cemetery, White Oak..
