Michael Anthony "Big Mike" Prota, 57, of Elizabeth, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at home. He was born June 16, 1963 in Philadelphia and was the son of the late George and Virginia Landini Prota. Mike attended Mount Vernon Community Presbyterian Church and worked as a baker at The Greenock Deli. He loved to play cards, was an avid gardener and was an excellent baker, known as "The Mile High Pie Guy". He loved playing hot wheels with his beloved grandson Owen and was a cornhole champion.
He is survived by his wife Susan M. (Flannery) Prota, sons, Mike (Harper) Heft and George (Madison) Prota both of Denver, CO, daughter, Shannon (Sean) Welsch of Elizabeth, grandson, Owen Welsch, Uncle Robert "Bob" (the late Jean) Slonecker of Buena Vista and numerous extended family members and friends. There is no public visitation. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, funeral service will be private. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
