Arlene M. (Bertie) Perhach Slate, age 84, of Forward Twp., passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at home. She retired as a driver for the National Steelworkers Oldtimers Foundation in McKeesport. She was a member of The Church in Sutersville and was a former clerk at Thompson's Convenience Store. Born December 20, 1936 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Rose (Plaster) Bertie. She is survived by sons, Steve (Edna) Perhach of Elizabeth, Ron (Tammy) Perhach of Forward Twp., Mike Slate of Forward Twp. and Edward (Glori) Slate of Monroeville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; also, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, David Perhach, Charles Slate Jr. and Duane Perhach. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. In order to comply with Covid-19 restrictions, guests are required to wear masks and follow CDC social distancing guidelines. You may be asked to limit your visiting time so that all guests will have an opportunity to pay their respects. The family would like to express their understanding to those who are unable to attend due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A funeral service will take place on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ed Slate officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
