Ruth Brown Long, 92 of Clairton, PA, departed this life Saturday, July 23, 2016 in UPMC Montefiore Hospital.

Born April 22, 1924 in Millbrook, AL, daughter of the late Jeanette Young Brown and Arthel Brown, Sr. and the biological daughter of Peter Long.

Ruth was a 69-year member of First African Methodist Episcopal Church, Clairton. She was member of the Senior Usher Board, First A.M.E. Lay Organization, King's Daughters, and a former Trustee; past Worthy Matron of Shelby Chapter #59 O.E.S. and former Daughter Elk.

She attended Alabama State College and was a retired Teacher's Aide for Clairton City School District.

Surviving are two sons, Peter James Long of Silver Springs, MD, Melvin C. Long of Clairton, PA; two daughters, Cheryl D. Long of West Mifflin, PA, Cynthia D. Long of Clairton, PA; sister, Nancy B. Wilson of Opelika, AL; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by sons, Sherman Long and Karrel Thomas Long and brother, Arthel Brown, Jr. Friends will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at First A.M.E Church, 177 Mitchell Ave., Clairton, PA where services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Linda Moore, officiating.

Interment will follow in the McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery, McKeesport, PA.

Local arrangements entrusted to the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., Clairton, PA.
