Nancy Louise Essay, 84, of Greenock, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021. She was born October 17, 1936 in Greenock and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bernice (Smock) Wunder. She was the wife of the late Thomas Richard Essay who passed away August 29, 2014. Nancy was a member of the Boston United Methodist Church where she served as church organist for many years. She loved her animals including her ducks, cats and dogs.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" (Mike) McNamara of Charlotte, NC, sons, Shane (Debbie) Essay of Greenock, Jeffrey (Kristin) Essay of Rillton, and Daniel Essay of Kittanning, grandchildren, Shane Jr.(Danica), Jamie (Amanda),  Aaron (Jen), Anna, Elijah, Joshua, and McKenzie, great-grandchildren, Naomi, Eva, AnnaBelle, Isaac, Lydia, and Hannah, brother-in-law, Robert Essay of Greenock,  nieces, nephews, and her dog Josie. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and Fred Wunder, and sisters, Jeanette Johnston and Esther Wilfong. Friends are welcome Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 6-8 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street,Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, director. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 10 am. with The Rev. Jack Piper, officiating. Interment will follow at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Greenock.
