Gordon S. Carter, age 89, of McKeesport, died June 22, 2021, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Born January 7, 1932, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Wayne and Elizabeth (Sari) Carter. Gordon graduated from McKeesport Technical High School in 1949 and then enlisted in the Navy that August. He would receive his training at Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois as a Fire Control Technician. While on active duty, he served aboard the USS Hector (AR-7), USS Owen (DD-536) and participated in the Battle of Inchon.
Gordon worked for U.S. Steel, and then in April 1956, he worked as an installer for Bell Telephone and then owned his own company, Cross Connections. He enjoyed the camaraderie with his co-workers and loved to golf. He is survived by children, Tom (Sue) Carter, Gordon W. Carter, Maureen Carter Barr, Debbie (Rick) Matheson, Pamela (Ray) Snyder, and Brenda Pozzuto. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a son, William "Billy" S. Carter; daughter, Lisa Carter; siblings, Chuck, Morgan (Babe), Rosemary B. DeAngelis, and Joseph. Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory. A private burial took place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
