Elinor R. (Petrick) Bartko, age 94 of White Oak, passed away on December 13, 2015 at The Palms at O'Neil in McKeesport. She joins her husband, the late John E. Bartko, who passed away February 2, 1992, and her brothers, the late Albert Petrick of Irwin and the late Robert Petrick of Penn Hills.
Elinor is the mother of Jack (Elaine) Bartko and Kevin (Andrea) Bartko and the grandmother of Jonathan, Charity, and Julianne Bartko. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. As a devout Catholic and member of St. Angela Merici Roman Catholic Church, Elinor volunteered by making telephone calls to ill and elderly parish members to brighten their days and help them through tough times. During World War II, she aided the war effort by working at Christy Park Works in McKeesport that was converted to produce ammunition shells. In her earlier years, Elinor also worked as a hairdresser at a local salon. Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 3 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 10 AM in St. Angela Merici Parish with Fr. Kevin Dominik officiating. Procession and entombment will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in North Versailles. Memorial contributions in Elinor's name should be made to St. Angela Merici Parish, 1640 Fawcett Ave., White Oak, PA 15131.
