Edward Patrick Ryan, Sr., 74, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021. He was born December 3, 1946 in Pittsburgh and was the son of the late Vincent Patrick and Elizabeth Mary (Foley) Ryan. Ed was a former Police Officer and Detective for Allegheny County and was a US Army Veteran. For his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals, The 2 Overseas Bar and The M-14 Marksmanship Medal. He was retired from the former Fisher Body Plant in West Mifflin with over 20 years of service. He attended both St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Towship and Community United Methodist Church in Harrison City. But most importantly, Ed was a family man who loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Ed loved to fish, play softball and listen to music. He had an affection for animals, especially dogs. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary M. "Madelyn" (Fiore) Ryan, son, Edward P. (Tammy) Ryan, Jr., daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Salvi, grandchildren, Myah, Caleb, Maddy, Abby, Cross, Tess, Morgan, Trip, Gianna, Nina and Santina, brother, Vincent (Kathy) Ryan, sisters, Mary Lou (the late "Red" Anthony) Elias and Elizabeth "Sissy" (the late "Mickey" Michael) Coury and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James "Jim" Ryan. Friends are welcome from Friday, August 13, 2021 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township (412) 751-5000 Drew J.
