Dr. Joseph Anthony Mollura, “Dr. Joe”, 60, of Elizabeth Township, died Monday, August 8, 2016. He was born May 23, 1956 in Tuckahoe, NY, and was the son of the late Joseph and Lucille Mollura. Dr. Mollura grew up outside of New York City where he grew a love for the game of baseball and the New York Yankees. He studied Biology at Fordham University where he met his wife, Maria, and went on to pursue his career in medicine.

After completing his medical education, Dr. Mollura moved to McKeesport for residency training at McKeesport and Monsour Hospitals. Following residency, Dr. Mollura served the community as a family doctor at North Huntingdon Family Practice for 20 years and cared for patients at Jennette, McKeesport, Monsour, and Forbes Hospitals. He retired his practice in 2010, and he became the Medical Director for the Pennsylvania State Prison System in Pittsburgh (and everyday cursed Pittsburgh drivers, parkway traffic, and the Squirrel Hill Tunnels).
He is survived by his wife, Maria Crescenzi Mollura, daughter, Lorraine Mollura (Mark) DiNatale, sons, Dr. Joseph G. (Kelsey) Mollura, Steven M. Mollura, David A. Mollura, sister, Dianne (Alfred) Cozza of Tuckahoe, NY and Susan (Robert) Centanni of Genoa, NV, grandchildren, Joseph John, Alaina, Eve and Isaac Mollura. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews who affectionately called him Uncle Joe.
Friends are welcome Saturday, August 13, and Sunday, August 14, from 2-4PM and 6-9PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak (412-672-6322), Troy J. Gilbert, Director. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Township on Monday, August 15, at 10:00 am the Rev. Thomas Wagner officiating.
