Mary E. Brooks, age 94, of McKeesport, died August 13, 2021, at Riverside Care Center. Born March 23, 1927, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Ella (Cox) Harper and the wife of the late James F. Brooks, Sr.
Mary retired in 1991 from Louise Child Care as a daycare teacher. She attended the Macedonia Church in Duquesne, where she sang in the choir and helped with the usher board. Mary was a member of the tenant council at Isbir Manor and the Le Femme's Club.
Mary is survived by her sons, Eric Brooks of McKeesport and Ronald Brooks of Michigan; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, James F., Jr.; siblings, George Douglas Harper, Charles Harper, Margaret Harper, and Evelyn Watkins Lingard.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., in the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Duquesne. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the Smithfield East End Cemetery of Homewood.
