Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | October 08, 2021
Angelo J. Salvi, age 98, of Elizabeth Township, died October 7, 2021, at home. Born May 24, 1923, in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Verno) Salvi and the husband of his late, beloved wife, Jean (Gaudy) Salvi.
Angelo retired from U.S. Steel with 44 years of employment; he specialized in RTF electric power distribution for the company. A U.S. Navy, WWII veteran, Angelo served in the European, and Asiatic-Pacific Theatres of Operations. Angelo was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Church. Angelo enjoyed life. He traveled, gamed and shopped, all in an easy and elegant style. He made friends wherever he went. For those of us fortunate enough to know him, the world was a little classier, a little cheerier, when he was near.
Survivors include, daughter, Charlene Gergely, of McKeesport, and son, Michael (Saundra) Salvi of McKeesport; grandchildren, Jayson (Victoria), Ericka, Christopher, Steven (Jennifer) and Jared (Alyson); 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy, Mario, Michael (Kathy) and Rudy (Paula); sisters, Anna Marie Hall and Lucille Hodge; nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory.
There will be no public visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on October 9, 2021, at 1 p.m., by Father Vincent P. Velas in St. Patrick Church, McKeesport. Committal service and interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
