Mary Jane Murphy, 100, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Independence Court of Monroeville. She was born August 1, 1921 in Scottdale, Pa, a daughter of the late William and Margaret Haines Hawthorne. Prior to her retirement, Mary Jane was employed as a secretary by ANDCO Construction. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin, Amaranth Grand Royal Matron of Pa. and the past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Irwin Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Murphy, her daughter, Cheri Jane Norman, son-in-law, Bob Porter. She is survived by two sons Robert Murphy (Diane), Jack Murphy (Deborah), one daughter Marna Porter, one brother William Hawthorne, grandchildren, Nicole McGrath (James), Allison Ahigian (John), Sean Murphy (Cara), Holly Schoepp, Jackie Culp, Brian Culp (Tracey), Scott Malt and Keri Norman. Great grandchildren, Makayla, Brian, Alex, Jackson, Kinsley, Jody, Mitchell, Samantha, Gabriel, Jacob, and Lila. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Friday 4-8 P.M., A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 A.M. in the funeral home chapel followed by interment at Scottdale Cemetery.
