Richard "Rick"Voytko, 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Monessen, on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Son of the late John and L. Jeanne Voytko, of West Mifflin. Rick was preceded in death by his brother, John ‘Jay’ Voytko. He is survived by and will be missed dearly by his sisters Paula (Joe) Bresnei, of Glenshaw, and Jeanne (Ron) Dyer of Volo, IL, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces/nephews and a loving circle of friends. Rick graduated from West Mifflin North High School in 1968. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Robert Morris University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services; and earned his Master’s Degree of Education at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Psychology and Sociology.
Rick was an avid Harley Davidson rider and enthusiast. He enjoyed long scenic rides for fun, family and friends, as well as special Harley events. He was also a die-hard Steelers fan and had a great love for dogs. He volunteered regularly at the local animal shelter and had a special fondness for ‘Pittys’ (pit bulls). He was also treasured by the children in his life because of his comedic antics (aka ‘goofball’). Rick’s career took him down many paths with many entertaining stories, from U.S. Steel to Continental Can to In- Home Medical Supplies and as a Counselor with Mon-Yough Mental Health. He retired from the PA Department of Corrections serving as a Drug & Alcohol Treatment Specialist Supervisor and Unit Manager at Graterford, Unit Manager at Forest, and Psychological Services Specialist at Fayette. Rick celebrated over 33 years clean in the AA Program and was a beloved sponsor to many. He often spoke at meetings and had great fellowship inside the room. He was known for his kindness, awesome sense of humor, and was a good ear for emotional support. Family and friends are cordially invited from 1 to 8 PM on Sunday, November 7, at TEICHART-GRACAN FUNERAL HOME, Kennedy Ave. at Wilmot St., Duquesne, PA 15110. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rick’s name to the Animal Rescue League of Greater Pittsburgh or to your favorite animal shelter.
