Esther W. Kost, age 94, of White Oak, died November 17, 2021, at AHN Forbes Hospital. Born April 21, 1927, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Clarence P. and Marguerite (Barr) Whitehead and the wife of the late Bert Edward Kost.

Esther was a proofreader and reporter for the former McKeesport Daily News in her early years. She was the Valedictorian of McKeesport High School Class of 1944 and was secretary and member of the permanent Reunion Committee. Esther was a member of First United Methodist Church of McKeesport, where she was a former Trustee. She was also a member of the McKeesport Hospital Junior Committee, White Oak Junior Women's Club, and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Esther was an avid reader who enjoyed poetry, novels, the New York Times, and crossword puzzles.   She was a woman of many talents and wisdom; Esther had the most beautiful soul filled with love for her friends and family, and she adored spending time together at gatherings and holidays.  
Esther is survived by her daughters, Alison L. Kost (Clark Glymour) of Shadyside, Carol A. Kost (Robert Holmes) of White Oak, Laurie K. (Dan) Ratesic of Monroeville, and Lisa K. (Neal) Nola of Monroeville; grandchildren, Holly Glymour, Madelyn Glymour (Melissa Wagner), Kelsey (Benjamin) Wardrop, Abigail Thompson, Carly (Michael) Ferraco, Joseph "J.R." Nola, and Clayton Nola; great-grandchildren, Christopher "C.J." Thompson Jr., Cassius Thompson, Reagan Wardrop, Jocelyn Wardrop, and Adelaide Ferraco.  In addition to her husband and parents, Esther was also preceded in death by her daughter, April L. Kost and her brother Don E. Whitehead.  
Services for Esther were private.  Arrangements were entrusted to Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory.
