Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | December 09, 2021

Barbara J. Revak age 80, of West Mifflin, died Thursday, December 9, 2021, in McKeesport Hospital. She was born April 21, 1941, and was the eldest child of Leslie Revak (1912-1971) and Barbara Hegedus Revak (1916-2004). A graduate of Duquesne High School, she retired from US Steel as a corporate administrative assistant and previously had a career with Equibank.

Though she never knew them, all four of her grandparents were Hungarian immigrants, and Barb was fiercely proud of her Hungarian heritage. She and her mother even traveled back to their native villages in Hungary, where she held dual citizenship. A lifelong member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Duquesne, she also served as its secretary and treasurer. For many, she was the face of the church, and her organizational skills and dedication will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her goddaughter Rosalyn Reeder (Tiffany) of Gulfport, MS, actively deployed in the Middle East, adopted son Jeffrey Kash (Jeff Nytch) of Boulder, CO, many dear and close cousins, and many friends who were her extended family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brother Leslie Dennis Revak (1946-1982) and many dear cousins.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 12 in the Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, 212 Wilmot St., Duquesne. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 13 at the Hungarian Reformed Church, 1411 Kennedy Avenue, Duquesne, with the Rev. Dr. József Posta officiating. Burial will follow in the Hungarian Reformed Cemetery, West Mifflin.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Hungarian Reformed Church: 1411 Kennedy Avenue; Duquesne, PA. 15110.
