Carol Ann Thomas, age 73, of North Versailles, died December 22, 2021, at Jefferson Hills Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. Born March 30, 1948, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late William Betz, Sr., and Agnes Betz and loving wife of Peter Thomas for 46 years.
Carol earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the California University of Pennsylvania and then her Master's Degree from Penn State University. Carol would become a teacher at the former Central Catholic School on Versailles Avenue in McKeesport and then at Allegheny Intermediate Unit teaching disabled students. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting Wildwood for 26 years every end of August, where they would enjoy walking on the boardwalk and loafing on the beach. They also traveled out west in a motor home, visiting 17 states. While on their trip out west, they took in the sites of the Cheyenne Rodeo. Carol was skilled with her hands knitting and creating beautiful crafts year-round. She also enjoyed baking nut rolls, lady locks, and other cookies, especially around the holidays.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, William Jr. (Cindy) Betz; cousin, Marie (Ray) Jenson.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, December 27, 2021, from 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
